Un supermercado sustituye los envases de plástico de las verduras por hojas de bananero
En los últimos meses, el uso excesivo del plástico está en boca de todos, y son muchos los establecimientos que están realizando acciones en contra de los envases de plástico con el objetivo de prescindir cuanto antes de aquellos que solo permiten un uso. Un buen ejemplo es el que ha realizado este supermercado.
La cadena Rimping Supermarket, en Tailandia, ha ideado una original y sostenible forma de reducir el uso de envases de plástico envolviendo sus productos en hojas de banano.
De esta forma, en vez de usar un envase o una bolsa de plástico, las frutas y verduras están envueltas en una hoja de bananero, y fijado con un trozo de bambú.
Esta hoja en concreto destaca por ser de gran tamaño, gruesa y suficientemente flexible como para ser doblada, por lo que resulta una perfecta solución para evitar el uso de envases de plástico.
La iniciativa rápidamente se ha hecho viral después de que una inmobiliaria de la ciudad compartiera las imágenes en redes sociales.
Cabe precisar que, según Forbes, en zonas tropicales estas hojas pueden adquirirse gratuitamente dependiendo de la cantidad necesaria. De hecho, el uso de este tipo de hojas para envolver alimentos no es nada nuevo, en México es habitual que los tamales estén envueltos en estas hojas.
