La fábrica de Nestlé ubicada en Herrera del Duque (Badajoz) ha donado más de 15.000 botellas PET al colegio de infantil y primaria Fray Juan de Herrera de la misma localidad, cuyos alumnos han reciclado y transformado en bancos para la escuela.
La planta de Nestlé donó el año pasado 15.000 envases al colegio. Entre los meses de mayo y junio de este año, los 280 alumnos de entre tres y doce años del centro escolar se encargaron de recolectar y reciclar botellas PET en contenedores especiales ubicados en la escuela. Con el nuevo curso, las instalaciones han estrenado seis nuevos bancos en sus patios.
Esta actividad, impulsada por la fábrica de Nestlé, se desarrolló en el centro escolar dentro del programa de educación ambiental promovido por la Junta de Extremadura Ecocentros. La iniciativa ha permitido a los escolares tomar conciencia de la importancia de reciclar, según explican desde Nestlé.
Ante el éxito experimentado, se prevé que los alumnos del colegio Fray Juan de Herrera vuelvan a recoger y reciclar botellas PET en el curso escolar que acaba de comenzar. Asimismo, otros colegios de la zona también han mostrado su interés en participar.
