Reino Unido: mercados se mantienen en alza tras optimismo del Brexit

La libra esterlina superó el nivel de US$1,30 por primera vez desde mayo por la expectativa de que el primer ministro británico, Boris Johnson, podría obtener el respaldo parlamentario para su acuerdo sobre el brexit esta semana.
Este lunes Johnson intentó que la Cámara de los Comunes respalde, en principio, el acuerdo de retirada, pero tampoco le fue posible, debido a que el texto no puede ser leído varias veces sin una modificación. La libra cayó inmediatamente tras el inicio de la sesión pero se recuperó en la negociación en Londres, y los estrategas argumentaron que cualquier caída sería de corta duración. Los bonos del Gobierno del Reino Unido cayeron y las acciones registraban pocos cambios.
La libra llegó a subir un 0,2% a US$1,3012 después de una racha de cuatro días de ganancias la semana pasada. Los Gilts, títulos de deuda británicos, se hundieron y el rendimiento a 10 años subió cinco puntos básicos a 0,76%, mientras que el índice FTSE 250 de renta variable mantuvo dos semanas de ganancias.
«El movimiento de los precios de hoy sugiere que los inversores en divisas se sienten bastante cómodos manteniendo sus posiciones en libras, a pesar de la persistente incertidumbre política en el Reino Unido», dijo Valentin Marinov, jefe de estrategia del Grupo de los 10 en Credit Agricole SA. «Esto podría apuntar a una mayor resistencia de la libra esterlina debido a la disminución de las preocupaciones sobre un brexit sin acuerdo y/o las esperanzas de un acuerdo sobre el brexit».
