Paul Marchant, consejero delegado de Primark, desvela su visión sobre el retail coincidiendo con los diez años al frente de la compañía irlandesa. El ejecutivo aboga por no conformarse, ser ágil y mantenerse en forma, entre otros aspectos, para competir en el sector.

En declaraciones a Drapers, Marchant señala que “tienes que ser ágil y mantenerte en forma todo el tiempo; esto significa analizar nuestra fórmula, precios, experiencia y servicio. Siempre estamos cambiando y evolucionando”. “Nunca nos conformamos, y somos un poco paranoicos, de esta forma no puedes equivocarte”, agrega.

Marchant se unió a Primark como director de operaciones en enero de 2009 y ascendió a consejero delegado en septiembre de ese año. El ejecutivo, uno de los más respetados en el sector del retail en Reino Unido, se convirtió en el sucesor del fundador de la compañía, Arthur Ryan, que falleció en julio de este año.

Primark concluyó su ejercicio 2018 con un crecimiento del 6%, frente al 19% del año anterior. La empresa situó su cifra de negocio en 7.477 millones de libras (8.539 millones de euros). Primark disparó el beneficio operativo un 15% hasta 843 millones de libras (963 millones de euros).
