Ministerio de Hacienda: Gobierno ha pagado más de US$14,000 millones a deuda externa
SANTO DOMINGO, República Dominicana.- El Ministerio de Hacienda informó que en los últimos siete años el gobierno dominicano ha pagado un total de US$ US$14,343.5 millones de servicio de la deuda externa contraído por gobiernos anteriores, de los cuales, US$8,939.9 millones corresponden a vencimientos de capital y US$5,403.5 millones a comisiones e intereses.
Asimismo, el Ministerio informó que realiza una administración de la deuda enfocada en garantizar el mantenimiento de la estabilidad macroeconómica y el flujo de recursos para atender la inversión social en educación y salud, así como en infraestructuras.
La institución planteó que la responsabilidad de cubrir los vencimientos de capital e intereses de deudas contratadas en gobiernos anteriores ha contribuido a mantener la estabilidad macroeconómica y estabilidad en la tasa de cambio.
“El Estado no solo se ha enfocado en el debido cumplimiento de sus compromisos por amortizaciones, sino en lograr que el financiamiento beneficie a todos los dominicanos a través de la calidad del gasto”, aseguró el órgano rector de las finanzas públicas.
El Ministerio de Hacienda explicó que gracias al financiamiento contraído y los impuestos recaudados, “desde el año 2013 se han podido realizar obras de infraestructura por un monto aproximado de US$14,600.0 millones, en proyectos que mejoran la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos”.
Entre esos proyectos, la institución citó: la Central Termoeléctrica Punta Catalina, el Programa de Reducción de Pérdidas y Rehabilitación de Redes Eléctricas, el Proyecto de Mejoramiento Comunidad la Barquita, la construcción de Planteles Escolares, la Primera Línea del Teleférico de Santo Domingo, el Proyecto Múltiple Presa Montegrande, la Ampliación de línea 2 del Metro de Santo Domingo, el remozamiento y construcción de centros de salud y la ampliación, construcción y reconstrucción de calles, avenidas y carreteras.
A través de un comunicado, la institución recordó que los niveles de endeudamiento del Sector Público No Financiero se encuentran por debajo de sus pares en la región. “Mientras al cierre del abril de 2019, el saldo de deuda de República Dominicana se encontraba en 38.9% del PIB, el promedio para Centroamérica y el Caribe era de 53% del PIB”, precisó.
