Este 28 y 29 de agosto se ha celebrado la cuarta edición del Encuentro de la Alianza Latinoamericana Anticontrabando (ALAC) en el Palacio de Itamaraty de Brasilia. El evento congregó a autoridades gubernamentales y representantes de diversas industrias pertenecientes a 15 países, con el objetivo de conocer experiencias y coordinar planes de acción para combatir en conjunto una de las problemáticas que más aquejan a la región.
En el marco del evento, la ALAC reveló que el contrabando mueve anualmente 80 000 millones de dólares solo en la región, afectando a distintas industrias, entre ellas las de calzado, cosmética, textiles y confecciones.
Ante esto y siguendo los pasos de Chile que en 2016 puso en marcha su Observatorio de Comercio Ilícito, los representantes de Guatemala, Costa Rica y Colombia presentaron a los asistentes los avances en sus propias plataformas de observancia diseñadas para el óptimo intercambio de información, estudios, prácticas y cifras referentes al comercio ilegal local, con la meta de erradicar dicha actividad en sus respectivos países.
