Para nadie es un secreto los efectos negativos que está recibiendo el planeta Tierra, debido a las emisiones de carbono, plásticos y otros contaminantes que día a día se incrementan. Por esto, países de todo el mundo se encuentran reunidos en Madrid, España, para hablar sobre sus propuestas y las posibles soluciones para contrarrestar este problema que nos afecta a todos.
El presidente de la República Dominicana, Danilo Medina, en su discurso presentado en la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático aseguró que el país esta dedicado a un 100% para cumplir la meta de reducir alrededor de un 25% las emisiones antes del 2030, tomando como base las emisiones de base del 2010, a fin de alcanzar la naturalidad de carbono para 2050.
Según el mandatario, se esta avanzando en lograr el objetivo con fondos del Estado y con apoyo del BID, para la reforestación de mas de 767,000 tareas de tierra que permitirán recuperar satisfactoriamente las cuencas de los ríos.
Nuestro país se encuentra intensamente dedicado a cumplir la meta de reducir en un 25% las emisiones antes del año 2030, tomando como base emisiones registradas en 2010.

En los últimos meses el país se ha enfrentado a grandes oleadas de plásticos, las que han convirtieron las playas en una pesadilla medioambiental. Activistas y ONG han trabajado en ayuda de la recuperación de estas, llegando a recoger alrededor de mas de 60 mil toneladas de plásticos en las costas.
En términos de daños económicos, Medina dijo que de la docena de tormentas que azotan las islas del Caribe en promedio cada año, la mitad son huracanes, causando perdidas anuales equivalentes al 2,6% del PIB, lo que hace que el Caribe sea 10 veces mucho mas vulnerables que el resto del mundo.
Por esto mencionó de tres aspectos fundamentales para contrarrestar el cambio climático:
1- Invertir en Mitigación, lo que implica mejorar la resiliencia de las infraestructura y establecer sistemas de alertas temprana al tiempo de trabajar en la reducción de emisiones.
2- Lograr que se viabilicen fondos de emergencias y mecanismos de financiamientos climático a escala internacional, para lograr desembolsos rápidos después de cada desastre.
3- Proteger a los mas vulnerables y usar redes de protección social y adaptación.
¿Qué es la #COP25?
La llamada COP25 es la reunión de las 196 «partes» o países que forman la Convención Marco de Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático (CMNUCC), organismo que desde 1994 reconoce la existencia del problema del cambio climático y se propone lograr la estabilización de las concentraciones de gases de efecto invernadero en la atmósfera, para impedir un impacto peligroso de las actividades humanas en el sistema climático.
COP son las siglas de ‘Conference of the Parties’ (Conferencia de las partes) y el 25 hace referencia al número de ediciones celebradas desde la entrada en vigor de la CMNUCC.
Estas reuniones anuales constituyen un proceso de negociación internacional en el que se intenta que cada nación se comprometa, a través de medidas concretas, a contribuir al objetivo común.
