Las certificaciones Gots se disparan un 35% en 2019
La ola de la sostenibilidad impulsa las certificaciones. El número de compañías certificadas por la Global Organic Textiles Standard (Gots) se ha elevado un 5% en 2019, hasta 7.765 empresas distribuidas en 75 países diferentes. El 2018, esta certificación la consiguieron 5.760 empresas.
En España, el número de empresas que han conseguido este sello durante 2019 ha ascendido un 71%. Los países donde más aumentaron las certificaciones fueron Bangladesh y Los Países Bajos, con un ascenso del 73%. Los países con más certificaciones son India, con 2.411, Bangladesh, con 1.194, y Turquía, con 858.
Para conceder la certificación, Gots aborda todas las etapas del proceso de producción: desde el hilado y el tejido, hasta el mismo proceso de fabricación tanto de prendas de vestir como de artículos para el hogar.

Global Organic Textile Standard (Gots), fue impulsada por cuatro organizaciones empresariales: Organic Trade Association (OTA), de Estados Unidos; International Association Natural Textile Industry (IVN), de Alemania; Soil Association (SA), de Inglaterra; y la Japan Organic Cotton Association (Joca).
