Foot Locker supera por primera vez la barrera de los 8.000 millones de dólares (7.305 millones de euros) en 2019. Sin embargo, lo hizo en un ejercicio marcado por un escaso crecimiento del 0,8% interanual que la cadena de moda deportiva atribuye a unos resultados por debajo de lo previsto en la campaña navideña.
En total, la compañía obtuvo unos ingresos de 8.005 millones de dólares (7.310 millones de euros), mientras que el beneficio neto se contrajo un 7,9%, hasta 498 millones de dólares (455 millones de euros). De cara a 2020, la previsión es poder acelerar el ritmo de crecimiento, si bien la dirección advierte que se situará por debajo del 5% interanual.
El grupo admite “una demanda más suave de lo esperado” en el tramo final de2019. “Es importante destacar que nuestra gestión de gastos disciplinada continua nos permitió alinear mejor nuestros gastos variables con las tendencias de ventas más suaves”, ha señalado Lauren Peters, vicepresidenta ejecutiva y directora financiera de Foot Locker.

La empresa abrió 32 nuevas tiendas en el último trimestre del año, reubicó otras 66 y cerró un total de 63 establecimientos, que han dejado la red en 3.129 puntos de venta propios repartidos entre 27 países de Norteamérica, donde concentra más de un tercio de la red, Europa, Asia, Australia y Nueva Zelanda.
