República Dominicana se ha convertido en uno de los países incondicionales de FITUR, la Feria Internacional de Turismo, que se celebrará entre el 22 y el 26 de enero en Madrid (España). En este mercado tremendamente competitivo, nuestro país es experto en presentar una oferta turística de primer nivel internacional. Los ecodestinos dominicanos, encabezados por lugares tan icónicos como Puerto Plata, Samaná o los Haitises; y nuestra más que atractiva oferta hotelera, abanderada por Punta Cana, representan nuestra seña de identidad y dan lugar a una facturación del 7,6% de nuestro PIB (US$ 15.583 millones) e, indirectamente, según fuentes de la Asociación Nacional de Hoteles, alcanzaría al 22%.
La repercusión del evento se sustenta en los más de 8.000 periodistas acreditados para la ocasión, los 150.000 profesionales del sector que se calcula que visitarán las instalaciones madrileñas y las 100.000 personas de público en general que acudirán a una de las grandes ferias del año. Tal es su envergadura, que el impacto de la feria en la ciudad está estimado en cerca de US$ 400 millones.
