Desigual, nuevo vuelco en la cúpula: David Meire abandona la empresa

La toma de control de Desigual por parte de Thomas Meyer tiene un nuevo impacto en el organigrama de la empresa. David Meire, que se incorporó en 2017 como director general de cliente, ha abandonado la compañía para emprender un nuevo rumbo profesional. La salida de Meire se produce tras el nombramiento de Alberto Ojinaga como director general y del fichaje de Guillem Gallego como director general de márketing.

Según han confirmado a Modaes.es fuentes cercanas a la empresa, Meire dejó de trabajar en Desigual a principios de agosto. Formado en Esade, antes de incorporarse a la empresa catalana el ejecutivo trabajó en compañías como Nike. Las atribuciones de Meire serán asumidas por Ojinaga.

Hasta hace poco más de un año, Meire era uno de los hombres fuertes de Desigual. Desde principios de 2016, Desigual estructuró su equipo directivo con una bicefalia, representada en aquel momento por Alberto Ojinaga y Pierre Cuilleret, que tomaron los cargos de chief corporate officer y chief client officer, respectivamente. Pocos meses después, Cuilleret abandonó la empresa y fue relevado en 2017 por Meire.

A principios de agosto de 2018, Thomas Meyer recompró a Eurazeo el 10% de la empresa que el fondo galo controlaba desde 2014. En ese momento, Meyer decidió reestructurar la dirección y nombrar a Alberto Ojinaga como director general, con atribuciones directas en las áreas de direcciones de márketing, producto, recursos humanos, finanzas, cliente y operaciones. Meire pasó así a depender de Ojinaga.

La reorganización dio un paso adelante más con el nombramiento en diciembre de 2018 de Guillem Gallego, también procedente de Nike, como director general de márketing. Meire perdió así las atribuciones sobre el área de márketing, aunque oficialmente continuó siendo director general de cliente, dedicado a las áreas de territorios y canales.

El nuevo equipo directivo sigue adelante con el plan de transformación puesto en marcha por Desigual para reconducir la evolución de su negocio. Tras convertirse en uno de los fenómenos de la moda española y rozar los mil millones de euros de facturación, la empresa comenzó a debilitarse a partir de 2014. Desigual acaba de renovar su imagen corporativa.

Desigual finalizó el ejercicio 2018, el cuarto año de su plan de transformación, con una caída de las ventas del 14%, hasta 655 millones de euros, perdiendo la barrera de los 700 millones de euros por primera vez desde 2011.

El beneficio, por su parte, se hundió un 93%, hasta 3,4 millones de euros, frente a los 47 millones de euros del año anterior. El resultado bruto de explotación (ebitda) se situó en 63,5 millones de euros, un 46,6% menos que el año anterior.

El grupo cerró el ejercicio con una red de 386 establecimientos gestionados directamente y 124 por terceros. La empresa prevé acelerar su proceso de reorganización en 2019, con más de cuarenta cierres.
