Coty reduce las ventas un 5,6% pero entra en beneficio en el primer semestre
Cara y cruz para Coty en el primer semestre. El grupo estadounidense de cosmética ha reducido sus ventas un 5,6% en el primer semestre del ejercicio de 2020, hasta 4.287 millones de dólares (3.879 millones de euros). Sin embargo, ha elevado su beneficio en el periodo. Después de cerrar con pérdidas en el primer semestre del año anterior, en el acumulado en los seis primeros meses el grupo ha entrado en beneficio y ha anotado un resultado neto de 39 millones de dólares (35 millones de euros).
La división de lujo continuó siendo la que mayor volumen de negocio generó al grupo, aunque sólo ha elevado sus ventas un 0,7% en este periodo, hasta 1.823 millones de dólares (1.649 millones de euros). En este segmento, la compañía ha explicado que el crecimiento ha estado impulsado por la venta de artículos de las marcas Burberry, Gucci, Tiffany y Hugo Boss.
Por su parte, la cosmética ha disminuido sus ingresos un 15,6% en el primer semestre, hasta 1.516 millones de dólares (1.371 millones de euros), frente a los 1.796 millones del pasado ejercicio. En esta división, la compra de King Kylie, el pasado noviembre, ha incurrido en los costes adicionales de la compañía.
Europa se ha mantenido como el mercado principal de Coty con una facturación de 2.045 millones de dólares
El área de belleza profesional de la compañçia ha elevado sus ingresos un 1,4%, hasta 948 millones de dólares (857 millones de euros). Coty ha alentado de una “debilitación masiva” en el mercado global de cosmética y ha aplaudido que, pese a ello, “la tendencia de venta de nuestras marcas ha continuado mostrando una mejora gradual”.
Coty esta tanteando vender esta unidad de negocio, que incluye las marcas Wella, Clairol, Opu y GHD, desde el pasado octubre como plan de transformación del grupo. De cerrarse la venta, el capital se empleará para amortizar deuda y devolver parte de los ingresos a los accionistas.
Por mercados, Europa se ha mantenido como principal cliente de Coty en el primer semestre. Esta región ha facturado 2.045 millones de dólares (1.850 millones de euros), un 1,7% menos que en el mismo periodo del ejercicio anterior. Norteamérica ha sido el mercado que menos ha elevado sus ventas, en concreto ha ingresado un 12% menos, hasta 1.221 millones de dólares (1.104 millones de euros). En Asia, Latinoamérica, Europa del este,
África y Australia las ventas del grupo cayeron un 5,3%, hasta 1.023 millones de dólares (925 millones de euros).
El consejero delegado de Coty, Pierre Laubies, ha valorado positivamente los resultados presentados y ha asegurado que “todavía queda mucho trabajo por hacer” dentro de la implementación de la nueva estrategia que se ha fijado el grupo.
