El lujo en Europa crece un 6% desde 2014 y representa ya el 4% del PIB europeo
El lujo brilla en Europa. La industria europea del lujo ha crecido un 6% desde 2014. hasta 1.112 millones de euros, según el informe de la European Cultural and Creative Industries Alliance (Eccia), que representa a más de 600 marcas de lujo de 12 países europeos. Según el mismo estudio, el sector representa ya el 4% del Producto Interior Bruto (PIB) del continente.
El lujo aporta a la economía europea cerca de 800.000 millones de euros en ingresos anuales. En la actualidad, el sector europeo del lujo representa el 72% del mercado mundial de la gama alta. Entre 2014 y 2018, el peso del lujo sobre el PIB europeo pasó del 12% al 32%, y generó 300.000 puestos de trabajado, empleando a más de dos millones de personas en todo el continente.

El informe subraya que las empresas de alta gama “permiten el desarrollo de centros producción y de excelencia en toda Europa, que además de ser actores clave en el liderazgo de la sostenibilidad, preservan el legado cultural y social europeo”.
La Eccia propone también una serie de medidas para impulsar el lujo en Europa. En concreto, la asociación pide la protección de los derechos de propiedad intelectual online y offline, garantizar un acceso justo a los mercados, fomentar la sostenibilidad a través de políticas armonizadas, fortalecer el marco regulatorio existente en relación con su modelo de distribución selectiva, promover e impulsar una formación profesional que perpetúe el legado europeo de la excelencia; y facilitar la entrada a turistas extracomunitarios en la Unión Europea.
La presentación de este informe supone la última actividad que Carlos Falcó, presidente del Círculo Fortuny, protagonizará como presidente de la Eccia. Falcó cederá el testigo a la asociación alemana Meisterkreis para los próximos dos años.
